What is LASIK Eye Surgery?

LASIK is a quick eye surgery procedure that provides good vision with few postoperative complications for most people. LASIK eye surgery is the most popular refractive laser eye surgery. LASIK involves the use of a laser to change the shape of the eye to correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. LASIK is a permanent vision correction procedure since it is a type of surgery which is not reversible. Thanks to advanced technology, LASIK provides an excellent safety profile and results when performed by experienced LASIK Surgeons for carefully selected patients. Today more people are routinely electing to have LASIK to correct their vision as it is a suitable substitute for eyeglasses and lenses for most common vision problems. LASIK is not right for everyone and requires careful evaluation and consultation.

LASIK is not suited for everyone including people with certain health problems, eye diseases, and other situations that an eye care professional can help to explain in detail as part of your consultation. At PAJE Optometric, Drs. Atie and Fimreite offer pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing LASIK eye surgery or other eye surgical procedures. Our goal is to help you attain the clearest vision possible using advanced technologies.

Evaluation and Referral

At PAJE Optometric, we provide evaluations and referrals for patients interested in LASIK surgery. Drs. Atie and Fimreite perform a complete review of your patient history as well as a full assessment of your eye health and vision. A current exam is important to determining if you are a candidate for LASIK surgery and if there are any other factors that may affect your results. The history review enables our optometrist to determine if your prescription is stable and you are healthy enough to consider surgery.

Once Drs. Atie and Fimreite have performed the evaluation and determined whether you are a candidate for LASIK, you will be given a referral to the NVISION LASIK surgery center, whom they  have worked with on an ongoing basis. This center will perform advanced diagnostic testing and will evaluate your eligibility for surgery. Various surgery options will be discussed with you if you are determined to be a surgical candidate. We will be in correspondence with the center regarding your evaluation and surgical determination.

If you are considering LASIK surgery, call us at 714-557-9492 to schedule a consultation.

Care Once your surgery is scheduled, we will schedule follow-up appointments for you in our Costa Mesa/Santa Ana office. Typically, you will begin these follow-ups the day after the surgery and continue at prearranged times over the following six months. After 1 year, a full exam is recommended to determine the long-term results of your procedure. Drs. Atie and Fimreite are experienced in working with patients pre- and post-operation and will answer any questions that you have along the way.

If you have questions about LASIK surgery, call 714-557-9492 to speak with our knowledgeable staff.
